August 16, 1970 - Long Pond, PA – Pocono International Raceway
Evel Knievel jumps 13 cars successfully on the Laverda American Eagle 750, but then turns over in the landing; resulting in a cracked vertebra, broken shoulder, and broken hand.
"Don’t do drugs kids, and always approach the flaming wall doing at least 40mph."
He rides a Harley, rather than a white stallion, but his job consists of confronting everybody’s bad guy: Death. A Captain of our tradition, to know him is to get closer to our roots. Tom Seligson, December 1971, Evergreen Review no. 94
Exclusive shot of Evel practicing the King’s Island Jump practice, soaring over 14 Greyhound buses. 1975
We had to feature David J. Morris’s EK-inspired tattoo. Years ago Evel signed his arm, so David had the signature gone over with ink. Now that is a fan!
